https://aberystwythartscentre.co.uk/writer-in-residence/

A session for Cymraeg learners and those interested in land + language.

Land artist Brian Swaddling and UNESCO writer in residence Esyllt Lewis will lead us through a relaxing series of guided activities, we will explore the relationship between making art about / in the landscape.

Looking at the interplay between landscape and language, we’ll explore what this coexistence can teach us about nature, the way we engage with the natural world as people, and, the importance of names in order to understand our square mile.

Any level of language proficiency is welcome.

Bring walking boots and gloves… and a jacket!

The Writer in Residence is part of a wider programme of activities taking place in February and March 2026 to celebrate Aberystwyth Ceredigion’s recent recognition as a Dinas Llên | City of Literature, and part of UNESCO’s worldwide network of Creative Cities.
